So back to day one of our ladies only trip to Cape May this past June.  

We arrived mid afternoon and check in was easy.  Our rooms were on the bottom floor about 4-5 steps up from the parking lot which made unpacking the car very manageable.  We take advantage of the kitchenette by bringing all the veggies and fixings for our own salad bar for lunches each day.  We also had cases of water to last us for the trip.

It was quite hot so after unpacking and a little organizing we headed right to the pool!  It was beautiful!  The pool area was nice and quiet and often that afternoon we were the only people in the pool.  

For families, there is a wading section at one end of the pool that has a full fence across so the little ones can walk around in the water without straying into deeper water.  Then there is a 3 foot shallow area and that is sectioned off with a rope from the deep end that goes up to 9 feet.   There are lounge chairs and tables with umbrellas all around the pool area.  

After cooling off for a few hours, it was time to get ready for dinner.  It was my sister's birthday and she had chosen Tisha's for dinner, which is a favorite of all of us.  One of my favorite things about Cape May is that you can walk everywhere.  Tisha's is located right across the street from our motel in the Washington Street Mall. 

 If you look at the picture, you can see our car in the bottom left corner and the start of the Mall right by the flag pole.  

We had 6 pm reservations at Tisha's and were seated right away.  Tisha's, like many restaurants in Cape May, is BYOB.  (Although we took note that on the table this year was a small menu of Cape May wines.) We had brought a bottle of wine which our server took care of right away.  We have never been disappointed with the food at Tisha's and tonight was no exception.  I enjoyed broccoli rabe sauteed in garlic over grilled polenta as an appetizer.  For an entree, I had pasta with shrimp in a vodka style sauce.  We did order dessert and while everyone thought their desserts were good, we all concluded that will all the dessert choices out in the mall, that would have been a better option.

After dinner, we had planned to go to the Boiler Room, a bar located in the basement of Congress Hall.  Unfortunately, we didn't realize that it wasn't open that evening.  But we were determined to have a drink to celebrate my sister's birthday so we went into the lounge area of Congress Hall, a well known, historic hotel in Cape May.  The lounge was busy but not overly crowded and we were able to locate seats in a corner with some chairs and couches.  We all ordered a drink, and a few of us did a shot of tequila (!), to celebrate.  

It was a fun night and a great way to start off our time in Cape May!   

To get this blog started, I'm going to go backwards a bit to June to share my trip to Cape May.  For the last few years, I have been part of a "ladies only" trip to Cape May, NJ.  The cast of characters includes my mom, my two sisters, my cousin and myself.

Every year we stay at the Victorian Motel.  The Victorian can't be beat for its location.  It is literally across the street from the Washington Square Mall which consists of shops and restaurants.  It has its own swimming pool and shuffleboard area.  It also has a grill that you can sign up to use.  Each room is allotted one parking spot, which is great because parking is not always easy in Cape May. 

We reserve two 2 room efficiency suites.  Each room has a living room / dining room area with a kitchenette, small fridge, table that seats 4, a flat screen TV and a pull out sofa.  Then there is a bedroom that has a dresser, closet and two double beds.

My goal is to share my travel adventures as well as travel tips and tricks.

My husband and I have birthdays and our anniversary within a 10 day period in the fall.  We decided after we got married to take a trip every year in place of exchanging gifts.  We have been on cruises to the Caribbean, Mexico and Alaska with Disney Cruise Line and Norwegian.  We have visited Washington DC, San Francisco, New Orleans and Baltimore.

This fall, we will be heading out to California to experience our first Adventures by Disney trip.  We will be spending 6 days exploring behind the scenes in Hollywood, Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure.  At the end of those six days, my two sisters will be heading out to join us for Disneyland touring on our own in the California Disney parks.

We are also throwing in a long weekend trip to Walt Disney World in November so that I can run the Wine and Dine Half Marathon.  We are staying for a few days after the race to do a few tours that have been on our to do list for awhile.  We are scheduled to do the Behind the Seeds tour in Epcot and the Keys to the Kingdom tour in the Magic Kingdom.

And when I'm not traveling with my husband, I always seem to be going somewhere!   So there will be plenty of adventures to share.  Hope you will come along!
